MORE than 500 runners from all over Britain lined up for Sunday’s Keswick Half Marathon road race.
The honours went to Eddie Simpson of Dallam Running Club whose time of 61 min 23 secs saw him come home a clear winner, nearly four minutes ahead of his closest rival James Bulman, running of the North Yorks Moors club.
The top local performance of the day came from Borrowdale Fell Runners’ Duncan Frampton, now qualified for the veterans over 60 category, who came in 10th overall in a time of 83min 51secs.
Leading lady was Louise Cooper from the Belgrave Harriers club and she finished just over a minute clear of Gill Mead, running for the East CheshireTriathlon club.
The Keswick half marathon is advertised as one of the most scenic road races in the country, taking runners into the Newlands Valley then on a circuit of Derwentwater before finishing at Davidson Park, the home of Keswick Rugby Union Club.
