Trails raise cash for Cancer Research

ALTHOUGH entries were very poor at Eskrigg on Bank Holiday Monday, the meeting attracted a good crowd of spectators.

The trails were sponsored by Fred Story and thanks to this and the donation of numerous raffle prizes, the meeting raised £364 for Cancer Research.

With Sandra Mordue’s Silver Birch sidelined with a toe injury, Ian and Barbara Telford’s senior Trust has had things all her own way this week winning three out of three.

At the first West Woodburn meeting she beat On Line and Sparkling Pearl and at the second Marshman and Fire Glory with Denton Memory and No Go finishing behind her at Eskrigg.

The two Summer Flight puppies have been vying with each other for pole position this week.

At the first West Woodburn meeting Summer Venture beat Summer Delight, but she got the better of him at the second meeting. She also won again at Eskrigg where her brother was rested, this time beating Polly.

Fire Ranger claimed third ticket at both West Woodburn meetings but did not run at Eskrigg where Gold Finger was third and his kennelmate Gold Dust in fourth place was the only other to complete the trail.

Hartley and Sarah Robinson’s senior Delta Star has made short work of her allowance of three maiden wins. She won her first at the last Eskrigg meeting, the second at West Woodburn on Saturday and her third win came at Eskrigg on Monday when she beat two from Jenny Horn’s kennel, Spring Moss and Springfield Lass.

The senior maiden winner at the first West Woodburn meeting was Christine Seymour’s Jedi from Fire Dream and Mr Ed.

The only maiden puppy trail to be held this week was won by Spring Midget which is jointly owned by R Ridley, J Steel and Aaron Horn. She beat Alfie Foster’s Templer and Denton Friendship which is owned by G & L Wall and Sandra Mordue.

The two veteran trails have both been won by George Telford and Linda Neal’s Eagle Gill. Denton Memory and No Go finished behind her at West Woodburn and at Eskrigg the only other runners were Castle Brae and Castle Thorn, both owned by Marti Borthwick.
