Leeds skipper: We won’t underestimate Carlisle

LEEDS skipper Jonathan Douglas insists the Yorkshire giants won’t be taking Carlisle United for granted at Elland Road on Monday.

Leeds come into the play-offs on strong form, in stark contrast to United’s late-season struggles.

“On paper it doesn’t make a difference,” said midfielder Douglas. “If you don’t perform you won’t win – it doesn’t matter who you’re playing against.

“We know that we not capable of turning up and thinking ‘we’re Leeds United, we’re going to win this’ – we need to work hard, and if we work hard then we’ll beat them.

“We know that we’ve two massive games coming up and that Carlisle are a goodteam.

“They’ve proved it over the season and when we played them twice.

“Going forward is Carlisle’s strength. They had a good centre forward who I played with at Blackburn (Joe Garner) but he’s injured now and he's been a big miss for them. They’ve got good wide players and good midfielders. But we shouldn’t be worrying about them.”

Top scorer Jermaine Beckford is back in full training after an ankle injury and is expected to start on Monday night. But loan left-back Alan Sheehan is suspended for both legs of next week’s semi-final..uk
