NRL has chosen Egremont to host the operation, which will supply temporary and permanent IT workers to employers in all sectors.

The 25-year-old firm, which has its headquarters at Dovenby Hall, near Cockermouth, also runs offices in Wigan and Washington, Tyne and Wear.

The IT set-up is a new venture for the company, which previously specialised in construction, engineering and trades, providing staff for companies including Amec, Network Rail, Sellafield and Doosan Babcock.

Its new IT department will be headed by Mike Morgan and will employ three consultants.

The operation will supply employees in network, PC and helpdesk support, as well as development engineers, systems engineers, software designers, business analysts, project managers, database administrators and website designers.

Mike Barber, NRL’s managing director, said: “Over the last few years, we have extended our offer beyond white and blue collar temporary workers to provide a recruitment service for permanent positions, so it makes good sense to extend the areas in which NRL operates.

“We have invested in the new IT division and are confident it will soon be as successful as our more established divisions.”

NRL is one of the fastest growing companies in Cumbria and a top 30 nationwide recruiter, according to a study published in Recruiter magazine.
