PIGS and pigeons from West Cumbria will feature on ITV Border’s Fun For Some series on Sunday.
The pigs - more than 400 of them - are the proud possessions of Judy Taylor, of Parsonby, and Workington fancier Les Blacklock will be showing off his pigeons.
Les, one of the best-known names in the pigeon world in the area, is the holder of the sport’s highest office in Britain.
The Workington Victoria club secretary is president of the Royal Racing Pigeon Association.
He has been a member of the RPRA since 1967 and a member of the RPRA council for 14 years.
Pigeon racing has been in his family for almost 100 years, since his great uncle started racing in 1910.
Les said he enjoyed the sportsmanship and camaraderie of pigeon racing.
He said: “I mean everything to my pigeons and they mean everything to me.”
Judy runs the Horse and Jockey pub at Parsonby with her husband and has a huge collection of pig-related objects.
Her fascination with pigs began when she was a child and hand reared the runt of a litter.
Judy said that the pigs have rather taken over the pub.
She said: “Customers bring me pigs back from their holidays and the children pick them up from car boot sales.
“The only time people think of me is when they see a pig!”
The programme, shown at 5.45pm, focuses on the unusual hobbies of people in the area and promises a mix of the eccentric, the traditional, the whacky, weird and wonderful.
