Care home plan
Published at 19:41, Thursday, 15 May 2008
A NEW 60-bedroom care home is being planned for Cockermouth.
Developers G&J Seddon are earmarking a site on Europe Way, east of the existing Lamplugh Road petrol station and new Travelodge.
Each bedroom would have en-suite accommodation with a lobbied entrance monitoring user, staff and visitors.
In an application form to Allerdale council, the developers said: “A need has been identified for a care home within the Cockermouth area to provide a service for elderly residents needing full time care.
“There are no new build care homes in the vicinity, with only converted facilities at present.”
During Wednesday’s town council meeting members recommended approval. A final decision will be made by Allerdale council’s development panel.
