ENTRIES have begun to roll in for the CN Group Business Awards 2008.
Firms from as far apart as Penrith and Cleator Moor have submitted their applications for the contest, which will culminate in a glittering awards show later in the year.
CN Group editorial director Neil Hodgkinson is urging all Cumbrian companies to put aside the current economic gloom and get their entries in.
He said: “A vibrant economy is a key factor in the future growth of our county and we invite all those involved in industry, business or commerce to take part in an event aimed at promoting the very best business practices we have to offer.
“No firm is too small, no company too large. These awards will highlight innovation, entrepreneurialism and success both at home and abroad.
“They will also recognise corporate achievement and individual brilliance.
“The shortlisted candidates will be featured in our range of newspapers and on our websites giving further promotion of their quality and success.
“And, at the end of the judging process, the winners and runners-up will be announced at a gala dinner at the Rheged Centre offering a fantastic opportunity for networking and recognising local excellence.”
The event’s main sponsors are Business Link Northwest and Invest in Cumbria.
The categories are:
Training and Development Award; Exporter of the Year; Community Involvement; Manufacturing and Engineering Company of the Year; Innovation and Technology Award; Environmental Awareness Award; Best Tourism Attraction or Project (voted for by readers); Business of the year (small); Business of the year (medium); Business of the year (large); Manager of the year; Employee of the year.
Winners and runners-up in each category will be profiled in CN Group newspaper titles.
All entries must be received by August 7, 2008 and winners will be announced at a black tie dinner and award ceremony on October 30 at Rheged, near Penrith.
