Fourth buy for Apex

THE owner of Carlisle’s historic Stead McAlpin textiles firm has continued its aggressive growth strategy by buying a fourth business.
Apex Textiles has shrugged off fears of an economic slowdown to buy WM Lawrence & Sons, a Chorley-based textile outfit. The acquisition has been made through Apex’s Lancashire weaving arm JH Birtwhistle and is its fourth capture since it was formed last year.
Apex bought Stead McAlpin in 2007 and Borders-based Schofield Dyers earlier this year.
