Cumberland County League

Salterbeck 2 Netherhall 3

NETHERHALL retained their Eclipse Bowling Cumberland County League title by beating championship rivals Salterbeck 3-2 on Saturday.

Salterbeck needed to win the final Premier Division game of the season at the Oval to pip the Maryport side.

But Netherhall came out on top and had five points to spare at the end of a season which finished for them with back-to-back titles.

Keith Anderson fired them in front after only two minutes although Salterbeck had levelled within seven minutes from the penalty spot as David Dustin netted.

But by half-time, Netherhall had established a title-winning lead of 3-1.

Anderson grabbed his second midway through the half and then just before the break Garry Wright scored Netherhall’s third.

Wayne Brash pulled one back for the Workington side but Netherhall held on to lift the league trophy.
