Catherine delighted with dress you chose

IT was a moment of joy mixed with relief yesterday when Catherine Rogers, winner of Cumbrian Weddings’ Live the Dream wedding dress competition, received her prize. Click through to this story to see a video of the event and an interview with Catherine.

The prize dress, which was voted for by the public, is a pure silk ivory dress from I Do in Cockermouth and was announced at The Live the Dream Wedding Event held at Carlisle Racecourse.

Catherine and fiancé Jonathan May, of Welton, near Dalston, impressed the judges with their tale of an emotional proposal while visiting the ancient Spanish hilltop town of Altea last September.

They will be getting married on May 30 next year at St Bega’s Church and then the Castle Inn, Bassenthwaite.

Catherine, a marketing assistant at Tullie House, is thrilled with the dress.

She said: “I was really nervous but I am so pleased with the dress. I am sure Jonathan will love it too.”

More than 800 brides-to-be, mothers of the bride and family and friends attended the wedding event, which featured 81 stands exhibiting all the essentials for your wedding day, from cakes and jewellery to photography and venues.

There were also three catwalk shows, with models from Premier Productions Aberdeen showcasing bridal wear.

Carol Milnes, of event organisers CN Events Management, was delighted the event was such a success.

She said: “Everyone involved has put in a lot of hard work and it has been a really great day.”

It was the second wedding event organised by CN Events Management, part of News & Star publishers CN Group.

Lynne Thornton, of Perfect Day Designs in Cockermouth, launched the handcrafted wedding stationery business at the event.

She said: “I have been really pleased with the response and have taken my first orders today.”
