New owners: The Hawes-water Hotel, near Bampton, has been taken over

The Oltec Group plans to carry out significant refurbishment to the Haweswater Hotel over the next year. The Wigan-based firm, which employs 1,450 people, wants to upgrade the 15-bedroom property, add further en-suite facilities and refurbish its restaurant and bar.

Chief executive Olivier Cavaliere said: “This substantial investment demonstrates our decision to open a new market opportunity for us.

“We already have some experience of the hospitality and retail industry with our hugely successful Mesnes Street coffee shop in Wigan and this has encouraged us to invest and diversify in this sector.”
