WARWICK won a comfortable home victory over Keswick B in a close fought encounter at Downagate.
Five different players contributed a goal each to help their side to victory, while the visitors were unlucky not to score as they they had a host of chances throughout the game.
The home side went ahead early on, despite an initial period of pressure from Keswick.
A flowing counter attack from Warwick gifted Max Walker an opportunity, and he fired the ball past the keeper.
Ghazn Kahn scored a second goal from close range, before Tom Foster’s shot went firmly into the bottom left corner, giving Warwick a strong 3-0 lead with the second half still far away.
The game was very even, despite Warwick’s lead. Both sides appeared to be taking turns defending and attacking. Warwick had more of the chances, but Keswick were bright and always threatened.
After the shock of the three early goals, they were able to compose themselves and plug the gap at the back. The score at half- time remained 3-0.
But again it was Warwick who had a better start to the half. George Page took his chance, and Connor McDermott put any hopes of a second half comeback for the visitors to rest with a decent goal.
Keswick’s second half goalkeeper Jamie Wilson was on top form, making several saves with his legs, and diving bravely at the feet of attackers to smother the ball on numerous occasions. Keswick never looked beaten, and continually came back at the home side.
But it was Warwick’s day in the end and they controlled the final period of the second half. Only dogged defending from Keswick prevented any further scoring.
All in all, the home side deserved this victory, but Keswick certainly made enough chances to score at least two goals.
Jamie Wilson was their man of the match, while third goalscorer Tom Foster had a great game for Warwick.
