CARLISLE choirboy Andrew Johnston who rose to fame on TV show Britain’s Got Talent is currently odds on favourite to win the show.
The 13-year-old Trinity School pupil, who brought tears to the judges’ eyes in the first episode, has been given odds of 6/4 to win the final of the ITV talent contest by bookmaker Sky Bet.
Last weekend Andrew, who is head chorister at Carlisle Cathedral, performed a lunchtime concert which attracted a massive audience of new fans.
Helen Jacob, Sky Bet entertainment manager, said: “We’re only into week two of the show but already we’ve had requests from customers wanting to back Andrew. We reckon he’s this year’s Paul Potts and think he’s destined for the final.”
Andrew’s emotional audition – during which he revealed he was bullied at school for singing before wowing with his perfect rendition of Pie Jesu – made judge Amanda Holden cry and Sky Bet are offering odds of 2/1 for her not to cry during the grand final.
The young choirboy faces tough competition from Gin the dancing dog and sexy string quartet Scala.
I THINK ANDREW IS AWESOME! I THINK THEY BULLIED HIM OUT OF JEALOUSY! HE HAS A GIFT THAT GOD HAS GIVEN HIM. I PRAY THAT ANDREW WILL FOLLOW NOT ONLY HIS PEERS THAT ENCOURAGE HIM, BUT FOLLOW HIS HEART! IT WILL LEAD HIM TO THE SKY!! THERE ARE NO LIMITATIONS FOR HIM!! LOVE YOU! DOES HE HAS ANY MUSIC CD'S? I WOULD LOVE TO PURCHASE HIS MUSIC!
