2,000 tickets up for grabs

CARLISLE UNITED have been allocated 2,000 tickets for next Monday's play-off semi-final first leg at Elland Road.

They go on sale to season ticket holders from midday tomorrow, priced: £20 (adult), £13 (senior citizen), £10 (under 16s).

United's allocation, 290 more than the Blues took for last month's league clash at Leeds, is the minimum the Yorkshire club were obliged to offer the Cumbrians.

Meanwhile, Leeds have been given just 1,637 tickets for the return leg at Brunton Park on Thursday week - less than half the number of fans they brought to Carlisle last November.

Some 3,350 Leeds fans travelled to Brunton Park that day, but this time they will only have use of the Waterworks End on the advice of Cumbria Police. Trouble flared between rival fans at the two sides' previous meeting in Carlisle, with 21 arrests being made before and after the game.

Leeds expect a huge crowd next Monday night after recording the biggest crowd of the League One season on Saturday, when 38,256 fans watched Gary McAllister's side best Gillingham 2-1 to clinch fifth place.

Carlisle, meanwhile, will be hoping for their second Brunton Park sell-out of the season in the return leg, after the previous 16,668 full house against Leeds. Tickets for the Brunton Park clash go on general sale at midday tomorrow.

n HAT-TRICKS from Andy Cook and Ryan Bowman helped United's youth team to a 6-1 win over Preston in their final game of the season.
