Eleanor Mansfield and Simon Farrell

HOW THEY MET: The couple are originally from Cockermouth and went to school together. They started dating on Christmas Day, 1996 – when they were 16.

PROPOSAL: Simon took Eleanor on a walk up Rannerdale Knotts near Buttermere. Simon had brought a picnic and, instead of having dessert, he brought out an engagement ring.

VENUE: Lodore Falls Hotel, Borrowdale on March 29. Caroline Sweeney sang during the signing of the register.

THEME: The Lake District.

BRIDE’S OUTFIT: A Maggie Sottero Vienna dress with a mid-length veil.

GROOMSMEN: David George, 27, was best man. The bride’s brother Joseph Mansfield, 29, and the groom’s brother Edward Farrell, 28, were ushers. The groom and his best man wore top hats and tails. The ushers wore Prince Edward suits.

BRIDESMAIDS: The bride’s sisters Tamasine Ennion, 32, and Arabella Mooney, 31, Carrie Bush, Charlotte Carney, both 27, and Sarah Heppell, 28, were bridesmaids.

FLOWERS: Hand-tied bouquets of cream tulips and narcissus from Evergreen Florists, of Keswick.

TRANSPORT: A vintage Morgan from Lakes and Dales Classic Car hire, of Blencarn.

RECEPTION: Drinks and canapés at the hotel followed by a meal for 90 guests and a further 30 in the evening.

TABLE SETTINGS: Balloons tied to pebbles from Allonby beach. The tables were named after Lakeland lakes.

FAVOURS: Gingerbread men and women with the initials of each guest, made by the bride and groom with help from Caroline Sweeney.

CAKE: A tower of meringues made by the bride’s mother Janet Mansfield.

FIRST DANCE: You’re My Best Friend by Queen.

ENTERTAINMENT: MBZ Discos, of Maryport.

HONEYMOON: Bandos Island, The Maldives.

PHOTOGRAPHER: Richard Hodgson, of Carlisle.
