Carlisle choirboy Andrew Johnston will release his debut album in September after working with TV’s ‘Mr Nasty’ Simon Cowell.
The 13-year-old, who shot to fame on the ITV1 show Britain’s Got Talent, has been busy recording the album at studios in London.
Andrew landed an enviable record deal with Cowell – one of the most influential music figures in the business.
His debut album One Voice will be released on September 1. Andrew, who attends Trinity School, caught the public eye when he auditioned for Britain’s Got Talent in Manchester earlier this year.
He stunned audiences and judges, moving many to tears with his unforgettable rendition of Pie Jesu.
The audition for the TV show was the first time Andrew had ever held a microphone and sung on stage.
This audition has now been watched by more than five million people on YouTube.
His talent catapulted him to the finals of the TV show when 14 million people watched him come third, giving the performance of a lifetime.
Since then, he has joined his fellow finalists on the Britain’s Got Talent UK Tour, a 23-date live show that has seen him perform to audiences across the country.
The album One Voice, which Andrew recorded straight after the Britain’s Got Talent Tour ended, includes Fauré’s Pie Jesu for which Andrew is best known.
Other tracks include a version of Bright Eyes – from the movie Watership Down – first recorded in 1979 by Art Garfunkel; and Eric Clapton’s ballad Tears in Heaven, which he wrote in 1992 as a tribute to his son who lost his life in a tragic accident. Also on the album is Walking in the Air, from the 1982 film The Snowman – a song previously covered by Aled Jones.
