A Carlisle student has won an award for her outstanding achievement on her college course. Claire Bowen, 27, of Stanwix, has been given a special award at the Tim Curtis Awards Ceremony, by University of Central Lancashire (UCLan).
It is in recognition for her outstanding achievement and progress on her foundation course in health and social care, which she worked towards at Carlisle College.
Claire has completed two successful placements during her studies and has also done voluntary work at a hostel for children in Thailand, where she helped to build a community centre for disadvantaged people.
The awards were made recently in memory of the late Tim Curtis, a former deputy director of UCLan, and they celebrated the achievements of students in UCLan’s 24 partner colleges across the North West.
Claire received a cheque for £200.
