TEENAGER Bronwyn Kendall is making a name for herself in the kitchen.
The 14-year pupil at Solway Community College in Silloth has just won the local final of a young chefs competition organised in connection with national rotary.
Her winning dish, which comprised Cumbrian trout followed by caramelised rice, means she goes forward to the regional finals which are being held at Wigton’s Nelson Thomlinson school next month.
Runner-up Meagan McMaster, also 14, meanwhile will compete in the regional final of the rural academy young chef of the year competition at Samuel King’s school at Alston. That is also next month.
Third in the local competition was 13-year-old Alice Dockeray.
Students had two hours to complete the challenge and were judged on taste, presentation and healthy eating.
